The Lodge

Shopping

Smithfield Shopping Centre is 2 kilometres from the Lodge and offers a wide selection of stores and services including:

  • Woolworths
  • Coles
  • K-Mart
  • Banks
  • Post Office
  • Automatic Teller Machines
  • Tavern
  • Food Court.


Trading hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm [some stores are open later and on Thursday evenings most stores are open for night trading]. For more information check with your friendly Lodge staff.

Alternatively, the Campus Shopping Centre is located across the road from the lodge, with a small grocery store, various take away stores and a movie rental place.

On-site Computer Lab

The computer lab is open 8:30am to 10:30pm for convenient, easy access for students. Four computers are set up with internet access and use of a printer.

Medical

Smithfield Medical Centre is directly across the road from Cairns Student Lodge.

After hours medical assistance can be found at Cairns 24 hour Medical Centre, located on the corner of Florence and Grafton Streets. Phone: 4052 1119

Live in a tropical paradise while you learn

Situated in one of the most idyllic places on the globe, Cairns Student Lodge is the place to live while you learn.

Available to University, TAFE, Language School and Business College students, the Lodge offers a range of comforts and amenities in a secure environment.

Cairns Student Lodge is close to two beautiful beaches, walking distance to shops and approximately 20 minutes from Cairns City Centre by bus.

Eat and greet

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by qualified chefs and all meals are included in the weekly cost.

As well, we provide packed lunches and late meals for any students with class commitments during the week. Specialised diets can usually be catered for with prior notification.

All meals, served in the bright, modern dining room present an ideal time to mix and mingle with other students staying at the Lodge.

Dining times are as follows:

  • Breakfast [Mon - Fri] 7:00am - 9:00am
  • Brunch [Sat/Sun] 10:00am - 1:00pm
  • Lunch [Mon - Fri] 12:00pm - 1:30pm
  • Dinner [Mon - Sun] 5:30pm - 7:00pm

 

Your safety and security

The Cairns Student Lodge regards the safety and security of its students and guests as an issue of paramount importance.

Although the Lodge is located in one of the safest areas of Cairns [an extremely safe city anyway], Cairns Student lodge has an onsite caretaker and a licensed security officer performs regular nightly patrols.

If you are the parent of a student considering staying at the Lodge, please take time to read the “Parent Assurance” information.

Airport Pickup Service

Guests of the Lodge are offered an airport /bus train pickup or drop off service. This is availed for a nominal charge for $20.00 pp each way from Cairns airport to Cairns Student Lodge.(48 hours notice is required)

Shuttle bus service

For English Language Students staying at Cairns Student Lodge, we offer free transport to your inner city College, in our 10 seat shuttle.

A public bus service operated by “SunBus” runs seven days a week from bus stops approx 100 metres from the Lodge
